The next full batch of chickens should be available around the middle of September including most of our popular breeds.

This will be our final batch of this season. After these, the next point of lay chickens and bantams should be available towards the middle or end of February 2025.

English Burford Brown

We now have available “Cheshire Blacks: at Point of Lay- these birds should lay a large amount of darker brown eggs, for which they are well known.

We now have “ Easter Egger” chickens available- these birds vary in appearance and could lay a range of coloured eggs.

Information on Our Breeds

Black Rock/Rhode Rock

Black birds, chestnut plumage in neck and breast. These are purpose bred free-range hens showing excellent egg laying qualities.

Performance Specifications:

·      Lays brown eggs.

·      Bodyweight at 20 weeks 1600g.

·      Bodyweight at 72 weeks 2250g.

·      Peak of production more than more than 90%.

·      Production per hen housed at 72 weeks 270.

·      Black feathers.

Speckeldy

Black and grey speckled hen, a hybrid from the Maran. These birds should lay more eggs than the traditional Maran, although only about half of them will produce eggs of a darker brown colour.

 Blacktails

Medium sized brown hen with a black tail. Good free-range bird with a friendly nature. Similar in appearance to the Columbian Blacktail.

Red Star

This an excellent egg-laying hybrid with a very quiet and placid nature, ideal for first-time Chicken keepers.

Lays in the region of 300 eggs per year.

·      Has a very quiet and strong temper.

Utility Light Sussex

A large white hen with black feathering in the neck and tail, almost looking identical to the traditional Light Sussex, showing good egg laying ability and laying brown eggs.

Bluebells

Large, quiet, slate grey hen with a darker head. Bred from the Rhode Island Red. Lays a good number of large brown eggs.

White Star

Pure white bird, comparatively smaller than the other hens we stock. Very similar to the White Leghorn. A lively bird, laying a large number of mostly large white eggs. Early to mature and a fantastic layer.

Commercial Brown Warren Type Pullet

These birds are loved by poultry farmers for their egg-laying capacity.

You can totally rely on them to produce up to 300-350 brown eggs in a year.

In addition to this quality, they are also friendly and get along well with humans.

This brown chicken breed has a brown to reddish colour and it’s made up of lighter feathers underneath.

They are hardy, very loving, and quiet, and you will find their calm nature very attractive.

Easter Eggers

Easter egger chickens are a mixed-breed chicken with delightful, amusing personalities that many people add to their flock due to the fact that they lay eggs in a wide variety of colours, including blue, pink, green, mid and dark brown, sage, and yellow.

Creag Mhor Coppers

These are a quiet and docile dark brown egg-laying hybrid, laying in the region of 280 eggs per year.
